DAY 19 SUNDAY 29 MAY (MEMORIAL DAY) ALICANTE travel to CARTAGENA on the Med.

It was an uneventful drive to Cartagena but our first impression of the NH Hotel Campo was not good. It looked like a wasteland. We went back into town and found a
restaurant, it was lunchtime, so do not judge us, we needed sustenance!  We had a confab and decided to find the other NH hotel and then we would decide if we would stay there or not. Lunch was pretty awesome but as it was 3 days ago I cannot remember what it was! I do know that Paul had roast baby lamp. Jane had a salmon salad. We got Carmen on the job and boy, did she lead us on a merry dance! We ended up in a residential area with no hotel in site. It was so frustrating! Paul figured out the GPS in the Opel and it took us where we needed to be. Right next to the marina right smack dab in the middle of the old part/pedestrian only part of town. We explained to the manager that we wanted to change our reservation to his hotel and he was most accommodating. He called the other hotel and squared things away and gave us a suite with a wrap around terraza! Whoop! We were directed to the parking garage. Oh my! It is an elevator! Down to -2 and park the car in very tight quarters! Mission accomplished with hearts beating like tomtoms!
Now remember, Paul is very gimpy at this stage and we did not want to wander too far but as luck would have it there was a Corpus Christi procession with all the newly confirmed boys and girls, a couple of bands with rousing music. Then a little further over there were some hilarious street performers and a carousel for the children. All in all things turned out very well! We had dinner at a nearby outdoor restaurant but the wind was howling by this time so I decided to dash upstairs to get my cardigan. While in the room, I noticed that Paul’s freshly washed shirt had fallen down so with cardigan in hand and bag over the shoulder I opened the window to step up to terraza to rescue the shirt! I fell flat on my face, banged up my head, both knees and my right hand! I lay there for a while trying to figure out what the hell had happened, gathered myself and belongings from the floor and headed down to join Paul. It really shook me up and now I look as though I have gone several rounds with someone larger and stronger than I! We called it a day not long afterwards!
